Additionally, you’ll learn about incorporating activities addressing the 8 Cs of Student Engagement. They are categorized as Competition, Challenge, Curiosity, Controversy, Choice, Creativity, Cooperation, and Connections. When you have completed this session, you’ll have a firm understanding of how to foster student engagement in your classroom.
In this 1-hour course, you will learn:
- What drives student engagement
- How to successfully engage every student
- The 6 levels of engagement
- The 8 Cs of student engagement
- Traits and needs of gifted students
- How the 8 Cs interweave with 21st-century skills
Presenter Bio
Sheila Mulbry currently serves as Gifted Coordinator with Lockhart ISD. She is a constant advocate for
gifted students and their special needs and has presented staff development on gifted education for the
past 20 years at local, state, and national conventions. She obtained BA degrees in Humanities (‘83) and
Elementary Education (‘90) and holds ESL and Gifted Endorsements from the State. Awards include
TAGT’s 2019 Educator of the Gifted. Sheila is currently serving as TAGT’s Board of Directors, K-12
Representative.
