Negative stereotypes are often associated with those raised in generational poverty. Of all these stereotypes, one of the most damaging in education today is that students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds are less likely to be gifted. Low verbal skills often mask true giftedness. It’s time to get past the stereotypes and begin uncovering giftedness in our low-SES students.

  1. Michelle – LAREDO ISD (verified owner)

    Very informative and helpful.

  2. Kristie – HILLSBORO CITY (verified owner)

Great information . Would like more examples on how to use this with reading and building background knowledge.

  3. Tammy – HILLSBORO CITY (verified owner)

New information about how the 3 kinds of memory can be strengthened.

  4. Rodney – HILLSBORO CITY (verified owner)

    very informative

  5. Jodi – HILLSBORO CITY (verified owner)

It’s not terrible but it’s pretty bad. I dislike how you have to listen and not read so you can reread all the words and listen to it better. That’s all I have to say about it.

  6. Stacey – GALVESTON ISD (verified owner)

Is there a packet to download? She kept referring to it? Also, I took notes on the fluid, crystallized, working and blah and she breezed over those and then they were 25% of the quiz. Why didn’t she ask about the activities ? Most of it was about Mindsketching, which I enjoyed but then no questions so then you doubt yourself.
And that drop down question was just bull. Not text to help.
If that was during a teacher appraisal that would be a 1 in measuring learning.
I loved the trainer. Her personal stories were endearing and helpful. I teach EL Newcomer so her stories were touching and I have been doing it 26 year so I know HOPE matters.
I really learned a lot and took 7 pages of notes on mini-legal pads and thought I learned a lot and then the quiz took me 2 times. UGH, I would prefer essays to those dumb questions. Yes, I said dumb. ANd on that note, I appreciate he saying when people should leave the classroom

  7. Dawn – ECTOR COUNTY ISD (verified owner)

It was interesting, especially for teachers.

  8. Pamela – CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD (verified owner)

Great course except it was hard to hear what the other people in the room where saying. Maybe next time make sure they too have a microphone or the teacher is repeating their question.

  9. Elaine – HILLSBORO CITY (verified owner)

This course provided some great information for improving verbal skills for children that come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

  10. Bricia – ASHLAND CITY (verified owner)

    Informative
