Presenter Bio
Birdie Chesanek is a native of El Paso, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1990. She taught adult E.S.L. classes at El Paso Community College for five years and has taught at Oran Roberts Elementary School for the last fifteen years. Since 2009, she has received training by Dr. Joyce Juntune of Texas A & M University on strategies to bridge the gap between verbal and non-verbal skills for students from low S.E.S. backgrounds. She joined Dr. Juntune at the TAGT conference in Fort Worth, Texas as a co-presenter. She is also a presenter for El Paso ISD for the Gifted and Talented program.

This course seemed focused on early grade levels. What about Upper grade students who haven’t developed the middle memory? What activities might be more adapted to the upper elementary grades?
