Description

What makes a gifted person happy? Dr. Sayler presents a lifespan model of happiness and thriving for gifted individuals. The session explores the personal and external influences related to talent development and thriving at home, in school, career success, personal well-being, life-satisfaction, and personal happiness.

In this course, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of another definition of G/T “gifted and thriving”
  • Learn the key elements that allow gifted youth to thrive as they mature
  • Understand the internal and external catalysts for growth
  • Become more aware of the influential roles that parents and mentors have in the development of a gifted youth’s ability to be happy and thriving

Presenter Bio

Dr. Michael Sayler is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research in the College of Education at the University of North Texas. He has been a teacher and professor in a variety of public schools and universities for over 30 years and taught some of the first online gifted education graduate courses. Dr. Sayler studies the components of what it takes for lifelong thriving in gifted individuals from early childhood through old age.
