Description
During this 1-hour course, Dr. Juntune shares the findings of research started at Texas A&M University and the interventions being implemented in El Paso ISD to change the way we view and serve gifted students from poverty.
In this course you will learn three steps to improving success rates for low SES:
- Mind Sketching: A teaching technique that encourages students to sketch out the concept behind their answer while they come up with the words to communicate it.
- Building Verbal Intelligence: Children living in poverty have a simple language structure and we must give them a complex language structure.
- How to design a Gifted Program Specifically For These Students

Very Helpful to get students more abstract and intelligent.
Katherine – MERCEDES ISD (verified owner) –
Too much information for such a short amount of time. Should include more strategies.
Diana – LOS FRESNOS CISD (verified owner) –
Such great information on building verbal intelligence. The strategies presented are easy to use in the classroom. Students will most certainly benefit from using them.
Alejandra – UNITED ISD (verified owner) –
This segment of Dr. Juntune’s course had more interaction but still suffers from segmentation format–the reflection questions should be spread throughout the course, and the speaker sadly adds too many side conversations rather than main information in short segments.
Florencio – PHARR-SAN JUAN-ALAMO ISD (verified owner) –
