The difference between an Olympic runner and a weekend jogger isn’t simply that one runs faster than the other. Just as an Olympic athlete’s body trains and functions differently, the brain of a gifted student must be trained differently. Gifted courses should not just be harder versions of regular classroom work. They should be tailored and designed to stretch, challenge, and engage the brains of our gifted learners.

  • Use pace to accelerate instructional practice
  • Incorporate depth and complexity into your gifted courses
  • Increase sophistication in the course through critical questioning
This course is aligned with 2016 ODE Teacher Competencies a, b, c, e, f, g and NAGC Teacher Preparation Standards 2.2, 3.3, 3.4, 5.1.

Good, informative; information that we have heard before but explained very well and offers good information to take teachers back to the basics of high level teaching.

  8. tom – GREENEVIEW LOCAL (verified owner)

Dr. Cash really digs into the process of getting students to think and work with depth and complexity, especially the gifted students. He is very thorough. He presented a lot of information and ideas. It was mostly geared toward a history or english class, but he mentions it can work for a math class, but it will take some work to get there.

  9. Kristi – HALLSVILLE ISD (verified owner)

Great ideas and vocabulary explaining rigor, depth and complexity, etc.

  10. Jody – MIDLAND ISD (verified owner)

Excellent! Great explanations with examples for questioning all students then taking it to the next level for GT students.
