Description
All teachers can identify the underachievers in their classes, but did you know there are “hidden underachievers” waiting to be challenged? In this course Carolyn Coil identifies the characteristics of underachievers with an emphasis on this hidden group. You will learn the patterns and behaviors of students who don’t push themselves and strategies for challenging them to rise to their potential.
- Five different types of underachievers with emphasis on the “hidden” group
- Definitions and patterns of underachievement
- Graphic organizers of ways different underachievers show up in our classroom
- Strategies – is there supposed to be more to this?

I think this course shed quite a bit of light on what gifted learners go through and what types of underachievers there are. Being a gifted underachiever myself allowed me to look at some of the creator’s analysis and really dig deeper into what that looks like in my own classroom.

I like the strategies she presented. I have seen several underachieving GT students. Many teachers don’t recognize it, and can’t understand why they are labeled GT.
