Presenter: Bob Iseminger
Core Area: Creativity and Instructional Strategies
Grade Level: Elementary & Secondary
Hours: 1

Can you imagine driving a race car with only bicycle brakes to stop you? In this digital age, our students’ brains have been trained like race cars by the volume and speed of information that they have been processing since a very young age. But what happens when they must slow down and process information in a non-digital setting, like a classroom? In this course you will learn how to identify the effects of digital media on students and how to apply proven methods for adding depth and complexity to your AP and pre-AP classrooms.

  • How students’ interaction with digital media affects their brains
  • The structured Think-Pair-Share method
  • Auditory/sequential and visual/spatial processing
  • How the brain supports many types of learning
  • R.A.F.T. & Think-Tac-Toe activities

241 reviews for Building Depth and Complexity into Pre-AP and AP Classrooms

  1. Carlos – TULOSO-MIDWAY ISD (verified owner)

Very informative on different learns styles, good information for student activity to use.

  2. Maria – SOCORRO ISD (verified owner)

I really like how the presenter explained today’s kids ways of learning.

  3. Kristin – PROSPER ISD (verified owner)

The presenter was fairly pedantic and pretty free with his judgement of parents and students, and his assessment was based on archaic ideas as opposed to identifying how the world has changed (that part was okay) and how we adapt to it as teachers (his seemed to be from that of a luddite – this part was not okay at all).

  4. Penny – VIDOR ISD (verified owner)

This made so much sense! I knew that they dealt with information differently than students did before (my 34th year to teach) but didn’t really know how to adjust. These are some good tools that I want to use.

  5. Oscar – SOUTHWEST ISD (verified owner)

This course digs deeply into the Right brain learner’s style and preferences:)

  6. Katie – ORANGE CITY (verified owner)

    I learned some things.

  7. Jennifer – PFLUGERVILLE ISD (verified owner)

This is great course for young teachers or those new to the Pre AP/AP classroom.

  8. Jonathan – BOERNE ISD (verified owner)

Good course….great ideas for structuring class

  9. Adam – MIAMI EAST LOCAL (verified owner)

This course offered some unique perspectives about Auditory/Sequential and Visual/Spatial learners that I had not encountered before. I liked how the preferences of V/S learners were explained and put to examples.

  10. Bethanie – CLEAR CREEK ISD (verified owner)

Contained a lot of irrelevant information – is not what I was expecting based on the title of the module.
