Creative thinking can be difficult to define and even harder to quantify. The SCAMPER framework for creative thinking was designed to help teachers, and their students, develop a structure for creative thinking in the classroom. In this 1-hour course, Alesha Haybin will help participants work through a practical framework for creative thinking and will demonstrate how to incorporate creative thinking into every subject on a day-to-day basis.

Do you ever wonder how to best incorporate creative thinking into the classroom? The SCAMPER framework for creative thinking was designed to help teachers, and their students, integrate creative thinking into the classroom in a productive way. Alesha Haybin, Coordinator of Gifted Services at the Licking County ESC, will help participants work through a practical framework for creative thinking and will demonstrate how to incorporate creative thinking into various subjects.

In this 1-hour course teachers will learn:

  • How to create a working definition of creative thinking 
  • How to measure creative thinking 
  • How to use the SCAMPER framework for creative thinking 
  • Practical strategies to incorporate SCAMPER in their classrooms

Presenter Bio

Alesha Haybin is currently a Coordinator of Gifted Services at the Licking County Educational Service Center, and serves as the Scholarship Committee Chair on the OAGC Governing Board and is Past-President of Gifted Coordinators of Central Ohio (GCCO). She has been an educator for almost 20 years with 17 of those working directly with gifted students and their families. She has found the most profound impact can be made as a result of relationships that nurture the social and emotional development of each student while stretching them intellectually. Alesha holds a B.A. in elementary education and a M.S. in educational psychology and gifted instruction. Born and raised in Oregon, Alesha most enjoys going on adventures with her family and visiting the beautiful Northwest.

    I thought this was a great overview of what SCAMPER is. I always see it discussed on the gifted groups I follow but had never been introduced to the framework. I think this was a great session!
