Not only can prompt dependency cause inaccurate data collection, it can also greatly impede a student’s learning and steps toward independence. What matters most when working with a student who has become dependent on you to do something they are perfectly capable of doing themselves is to make them less reliant on your prompts.

In this 45-minute course, experience SPED educator and curriculum writer Ayo Jones details prompt dependency and learned helplessness in students with disabilities.
