In this 45-minute course from Maverick Wellbeing, Mike Crabtree and Jason Freeman explore the different stages of a teaching career and how it can be compared to training for a marathon. Drawing on Mike’s experience as a retired educator and Jason’s background as a professional speaker and perseverance coach, they provide insight and encouragement for teachers struggling with burnout and seeking ways to refresh and reinvigorate their careers.

Throughout the course, Mike and Jason discuss the common challenges and stressors faced by teachers at different stages of their careers and offer strategies and tips for dealing with them. They also share their own experiences and insights on the importance of finding purpose and joy in the teaching profession and encourage teachers to seek out support and collaboration with their colleagues.

Course objectives:

Mike Crabtree has gained a wealth of professional experiences and insights that he now shares with others through his consulting venture. He concluded a 30-year career in Blount County Schools – nestled between Knoxville, TN, and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Over the years, he has served as a Gifted teacher and a Special Education and Title Administrator. He spent five years as an Assistant Director of Schools and over 20 years as a building-level administrator, including many as a middle school Principal.

Mike is a first-generation college graduate from a rural, working-class factory town. His early years and professional career have also given him experiences and a passion for working with the economically disadvantaged. His accent is authentic, by the way.
