Description
One of the best ways to help your gifted students exercise their critical thinking skills is by differentiating your lessons with depth and complexity, and educator Daniel Brillhart says that using depth and complexity icons can be the key.
The depth and complexity icons help your students look past the first interpretation of the text and dig deep into the rich layers of the content they read. The icons serve as a visual tool to help your students identify key elements of the text.

This was a fantastic professional development course. I did not have any previous knowledge about Depth and Complexity, but I found many tangible, useful strategies to take back to my classroom. After this training, I cannot wait to implement icons into my math classroom.

There was a comment left by another educator who stated that there was a lot of talking and no doing, but it is far from the truth. The activities in this training helped me better understand how depth and complexity can be adjusted to all student levels and not only applicable to the most challenging students. Great resources and graphic organizers.
