Description

Are your gifted students stuck on surface-level reading comprehension? Do they breeze through essay questions while giving easy answers? When gifted students aren’t properly challenged, they can quickly and correctly finish their work without ever accessing higher-level thinking.

One of the best ways to help your gifted students exercise their critical thinking skills is by differentiating your lessons with depth and complexity, and educator Daniel Brillhart says that using depth and complexity icons can be the key.

The depth and complexity icons help your students look past the first interpretation of the text and dig deep into the rich layers of the content they read. The icons serve as a visual tool to help your students identify key elements of the text.

In this 6-hour course, you’ll learn about:
  • The history of the depth and complexity icons
  • What each icon means
  • How to integrate the icons into your lesson plans
After taking this course, you’ll have a strong foundation in depth and complexity icons and will be able to confidently use them in your lessons.
