Description

According to Daniel Brillhard of J Taylor Education, the only wrong way to introduce the Depth and Complexity icons into your classroom is to choose not to introduce them.

In this interactive course, Mr. Brillhard provides an in-depth look at one of the easiest ways to introduce the icons: through Depth and Complexity frames.

By the end of this one-hour course, you’ll have a clear understanding of the following:

  • How to introduce Depth and Complexity frames to your students
  • How to use frames as a way to learn about your students — and help them learn about themselves
  • The two basic types of frames and how to use them
  • The two steps you need to know when using frames
  • How to adapt the frames to meet the needs of your students, including as a tool for differentiation
  • How to use the frames to create “iconic pathways” where one icon leads to another

  1. Joshua – NORTHRIDGE LOCAL (verified owner)

I thought it was an excellent course overall. It would have been better if he would have reminded us what the 11 icons were at the beginning as well as making it more content specific. In addition the Quiz questions I found half of them to be confusing and not worded well.

It took me a minute then i figured it out and its something I can use in my classes

It was informative, but I think I was missing some information about Icons.

  4. Michelle – SCHERTZ-CIBOLO-U CITY ISD (verified owner)

I really liked the frames and how to use them in my classroom. I have learned about the icons before so I knew what he was referring to but it would be nice to have refresher on the icons or a handout.

I enjoyed the examples of deductive and inductive frames that can be used as well as the media used, i.e. the Amazon Prime commercial.
