In this brief lesson from our Essentials series, Dr. Juntune will walk you through four strategies for understanding your students, connecting with them, and giving them the message that you value them as individuals.

Description

One of the most essential parts of teaching is valuing our students as individuals. The reason for this is that when students don’t feel valued, they shut down. In this brief lesson from our Essentials series, Joyce Juntune will walk you through four strategies for understanding your students, connecting with them, and giving them the message that you value them as individuals.
  • The first strategy will help you to see a student through their own eyes and remember what makes them special.
  • The second strategy will allow you to discover useful clues about your students’ hopes and dreams.
  • The third strategy will enable you to approach your students’ questions in a way that invites them to engage.
  • The fourth strategy will equip you to integrate your students’ unique interests into your weekly teaching plans.

You can learn how to easily use each of these strategies with your students in your classroom, either one at a time or all at once.
