Description
Using visual memory helps students build verbal skills. Research shows that 10% of information imparted verbally can usually be remembered. When paired with a visual, retention goes up to 65%. Mindsketching is a visual memory strategy that helps students build memory and verbal skills by using simple sketches. For students from low-income backgrounds, whose verbal skills are already below those of their peers, this is a powerful tool to help build skills in areas where they are weak or struggling.
In this 1-hour course, teachers will learn:
- The difference between mindsketching and drawing
- How to build verbal intelligence through mindsketching

This course was outstanding. After more than 40 years of teaching, rarely do I learn something in a course that is completely new to me and I can see how powerful it is. This course is going to change the way I teach geometry.

Mindsketching is a great teaching technique, and a powerful tool for our students. I always thought visuals are important, but it is more than having images on worksheets. In this training I learned how to use mindsketching in listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

I really enjoyed the presentation and could definitely see the benefit of this in most classes & content areas. I would have liked some more examples involving math, particularly secondary where we involve more formulas and algorithms.
