It used to be that intelligence and giftedness were solely based on I.Q. and test scores. As our understanding of giftedness and the brain has expanded, the means of assessing and identifying gifted students have also expanded. In this course, “Screening, Assessment, and Identification of the Gifted”, Joyce Juntune Ph.D., draws from her vast knowledge and experience in gifted education to present invaluable tools for identifying gifted students using a variety of different methods.

In this 6-hour course, you will learn about:

Definitions and unique characteristics of giftedness
The role of intelligence in gifted students
Methods of screening students for signs of giftedness
Suggestions and guidelines for gifted programs

Presenter Bio

Dr. Joyce Juntune is a renowned consultant, trainer, professor, and lecturer with more than 45 years of experience in the field of education. She is an instructional associate professor at Texas A&M University, and she teaches graduate-level courses in her expert areas of intelligence, child and adolescent development, educational psychology, giftedness, and creativity. She has focused the majority of her career on the areas of intelligence and gifted and talented education. Dr. Juntune has served as the executive director for the National Association for Gifted Children and the Institute for Applied Creativity at Texas A&M University.

This course is very helpful in helping teachers to identify gifted students who may have low verbal skills due to language or poverty. It is very helpful for dual language and ESL students. Teacher can learn to avoid under-identifying students. Dr. Jungtune is a fabulous trainer who really gets the GT students ans she paints a exact picture of the these students.
