Differentiation can seem complicated. It can seem like a lot of work for teachers who already have a lot on their to-do lists. However, differentiation is an important classroom skill to develop in order to engage all students in the curriculum. In “Differentiation in the Real World: Process and Product,” Lisa Van Gemert challenges and equips teachers with easy-to-use differentiation tools that can be applied in the learning process or for the differentiation of learning products.

Description

Differentiation does not have to mean overloading teachers with more tasks. Lisa Van Gemert helps teachers break down the tasks of differentiation into manageable activities that teachers can implement as they learn them. In “Differentiation in the Real World: Process and Product,” Ms. Van Gemert focuses on the process and the product stages of learning and provides many activities to help teachers differentiate in these stages.

Activities such as restaurant/menus, cube creators, dice game activity selection, spinning a choice wheel, and tic tac toe are all easy to use and applicable to many subject areas and grade levels.

In this 1-hour course, teachers will learn:

  • Guiding principles and key ideas for implementing differentiation
  • Process: tiering and compacting
  • Products: activities and choice
