Description
Differentiation in the classroom might be a little bit like riding a bike — you never forget how to do it, but you can also always learn a new trick or two! In this course, Diane Heacox, Ed.D., unpacks two important strategies: tiered assignments and flexible instructional grouping. If you are not using these two strategies correctly, you may not even be using differentiation.
In this 1-hour course, you will learn:
- The principles of tiered assignments and flexible grouping
- How to design tiered assignments
- How to determine student readiness
- Other methods of tiered assignments

This was a coherent and organized presentation about tiering and flexible grouping. It did not address gifted ed directly, but it did provide examples of higher order tasks that might be given to more advanced learners in comparison with the tasks that might be given to more average learners. Examples came exclusively from the elementary setting.
