Description
Students spend about half of their waking hours at school, and every teacher wants to keep their students safe and healthy during that time. Being aware of the causes and symptoms of allergies is an important way to do that.
Children today are affected by allergies at an ever-increasing rate, and the symptoms of allergic reactions can range from mild to life-threatening. It is impossible to predict the severity of any allergic reaction, so it is vital for educators to have the tools needed to prevent students from coming into contact with common allergens and to act quickly when reactions occur. Knowing the signs of a severe reaction (anaphylaxis) and responding appropriately can mean the difference between life and death for a student.
In this 30-minute course presented by Responsive Learning, you will explore:
- Common allergens
- The responsibility schools have to protect their students from allergens
- Signs of an allergic reaction
- Steps to take when an allergic reaction occurs
When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have everything you need to confidently handle different allergy-related situations.
This course is also available in Spanish.
